I bought the book with the idea that it would help overall sentence structure. And since I bought it sight unseen, instead what I got was a glorified worksheet that has been reproduced for 30 pages with the same sentence building prompts really, I could have just gone with Mad Libs.
Same content mostly but format looked dated and missing parts in front of book I most wanted. Same year, several numbers matched but not exact. Seller never returned comment, so stuck with wrong product whose spine also was bent in shipping and won't use. My son has autism, and while he understands what other people say, he has difficulty understanding the formula to create his own sentences, which create fragmented and often incoherent sentences.
This little book has given him more in the way of understanding that formula than anything else we have tried. I am a homeschooling mom and I am always on the lookout for new, fun and engaging activities, this one sure fits the bill! My 6th grader is having problems with sentences being too long and not using punctuation. This book is very very very basic. It did help and we refer to it because it helps your child understand nouns, verbs, adjectives. It sets the stage for a good sentence helping children go back to basics on sentence structure in an easy way. But this was taught on the first 3 pages of this book. The rest was just repeating the same book write a super sentence with different easy assignments.
